No matter what age you are, an unexpected pregnancy can be a challenging time. As a result of situations in your life, it might be difficult to talk to others around you.
First, however, you should make sure you are pregnant.
Signs of pregnancy can be misleading. Even a late period can occur for reasons other than pregnancy.
The Bella Women’s Center medical staff can guide you with free pregnancy testing. We can also provide a limited ultrasound to confirm your pregnancy.
If you are pregnant, our caring staff will explain all your options. These include parenting, adoption, and abortion.
We will listen to your concerns and answer your questions. Please contact us today to schedule your free appointment!
Tips On Telling Your Parents You Are Pregnant:
Once you know you are pregnant, how do you tell those you love? Perhaps you fear you will disappoint them or that they will want you to make a choice you’d rather not make.
- Don’t assume their reaction will be negative. This can make you feel more nervous going into the conversation, which can create a more anxiety-inducing experience.
- If they react negatively, give them time to process the news. Once they’ve thought about the situation, you can initiate another conversation.
- Is the baby’s father supportive? As a couple, you can approach your parents. This can show them that you are a team.
- Do you have a relative, such as an aunt or cousin, that you can confide in? They may be willing to accompany you as you speak to your parents.
- If you don’t have any close family members, is there a friend you can reach out to? Consider bringing them with you as you talk with your family.
- It’s best to be open and honest when having this conversation. Provide as many details as you feel comfortable sharing. Your parents may feel upset or shocked, but remember to give them time.
If your parents pressure you to select a certain option, remember that they may be projecting their feelings onto you. Set firm boundaries and determine how they can best support you.
This is your pregnancy decision, and you alone are in control.
