1. Adoption

If this is not the right time for you to parent a child, adoption is a positive and loving alternative. In Michigan, the birth mother has many rights.

For your protection, a good first step is to find a licensed, qualified adoption agency to work with. They will ensure your rights are protected and provide guidance and counseling.

You will be able to pick the family you want to adopt your child. Agencies carefully screen families with background checks, interviews, and home studies so you can be confident that your child will be safe.

In Michigan, you can choose an open adoption (direct contact), semi-open adoption (mediated contact), or a closed adoption (no contact). The adoptive family typically covers reasonable adoption expenses, such as legal fees and medical expenses not covered by insurance.

2. Parenting

The thought of parenting a child can be daunting, especially if your pregnancy was unexpected. Fortunately, many places in your community can assist you.

At Bella Women’s Center, we offer Bright Course, a program that provides prenatal advice, training in caring for your child, and basic life skills. During the course, you will earn Baby Bucks to redeem items for your child.
